    About

Bill Jackson was an artifact authenticator associated with Jackson Galleries and was active in the field of prehistoric and ancient artifact evaluation beginning in 1989. He was known for applying a non-destructive examination approach referred to as Post-Depositional Surface Modification (PDSM), which focused on microscopic and environmental surface changes that occur to materials over time. His work involved the study of a wide range of artifact types, including Native American prehistoric materials as well as objects from other ancient cultures. In addition to conducting evaluations, Bill provided training on his examination methods to collectors and professionals interested in learning more about scientific approaches to authentication. His background reflected decades of hands-on analysis and ongoing involvement in the study of surface weathering, material changes, and indicators of age and alteration.
